Back in July, we had tried to book a spot at the Buttle Lake campground, but it was already full (#bcproblems). Thankfully, the Ralph River campground had some spots available. We weren’t expecting much because we figured it was the “second choice” for most people, but our expectations were exceeded. The 360 degree views from the beach were incredible, especially when the clouds cleared. We enjoyed apéro on the beach each evening, and breakfast each morning. The campground is also a great starting point for day trips to Bedwell Lake, Lower Myra Falls and Upper Myra Falls.
Our Site
Our site (#10) was a bit too close to the outhouse for our liking, but otherwise fine. We could see two other sites through the trees but otherwise it was pretty private and got some late morning sun. The trees weren’t ideal for setting up a tarp, but we managed to at least cover the wood. It also didn’t rain!
Better Sites
If we were to go again, we would try to get a spot with direct access to the lake (see map). They were a bit brighter and further from the road, so probably a little quieter.

It is just a short stroll from the campsite to the beach.
Low hanging clouds to start the morning.
The sun came out and provided some great reflections.
Breakfast at Buttle Lake
This site didn’t have great trees for a tarp, but we were able to improvise. It also didn’t rain!
