Upper Myra Falls

Justine planned to hang out at Lower Myra Falls for most of the day to rest her tired body, but Adrien wanted to “do something” (a role reversal for us). There weren’t many “easy” hikes in the area, but the Upper Myra Falls was marked as moderate so we thought we would give it a try. The reviews said “nice trail, but don’t go for the view” which is good advice, particularly if you just visited Lower Myra Falls. The upper falls are still impressive, but don’t have the meandering outcrops like the Lower Myra Falls.

This trail was much easier than the Bedwell Lake Trail from the day before, and we averaged a whopping 15 minutes per kilometer. The only thing that slowed us down was marking the wasp’s nest to warn other hikers (thankfully we had been warned and didn’t get stung).

The trailhead is located at a copper mine. The drive in is on a well-maintained gravel road and you need to sign in and out at the reception area (clearly marked). It was actually pretty interesting to see the mine in operation in the middle of the forest.

Trail Map

We recorded this trail on our AllTrails app. Clearly, it was a bit inaccurate on the way back, indicating that we climbed some extra hills for fun. We did not. Full recording and review can be found here.
