Part of the Trans Canada Trail goes from Halifax to Meaghers Grant, Nova Scotia. In total the route we’ve mapped out would be 87km in one direction, with most of it on multi-use paths. But, as we are learning, it isn’t all passable on our hybrid bikes…
The route consists of several separate trails including:
- Dartmouth Waterfront Trail
- Shearwater Flyer Trail
- Salt Marsh Trail
- Atlantic View Trail
- Blueberry Run
- Gaetz Brook Greenway
- Musquodobit Trailway
We’ve tried to bike almost all sections of this trail and keep updating the map as we do. For relevant posts see:
- Halifax to Halifax to Grand Desert (and back) on a perfect sunny weekend in May 2022. For the most part, our trip was fantastic, but Pleasant Dr. and the Blueberry Run are brutal! We’ve since found an alternative instead of Pleasant Dr. which combines multi-use trails and side streets through Cole Harbour. A bit hillier than Pleasant Dr and the Shearwater Flyer, but definitely more enjoyable.
- Gaetz Brook Greenway between East Chezzetcook and Musquodobit Harbour. This 7km section is amazing. Trail condition is perfect and wonderful artwork all along.
- Musquodobit Trailway (in progress). We’ve done this great trail but haven’t yet updated the blog. Stay tuned!
